On Saturday, January9th, members of the MBC National Alumni Association provided a very special presentation to Dr. Barbara Williams Emerson, daughter of our MBC Alumni Brother, Rev. Hosea L. Williams, in honor of his tremendous life & legacy. Dr. Emerson was accompanied with her son Weusi (Black), and his beautiful daughter Enzi Imara (Power of the Ancestors), great-grand-daughter of Rev. Williams. The family was presented a $1,000.00 check from our National Alumni Association to support the “50th Anniversary of Hosea Helps,” the organization founded by Rev. Williams to “Feed the Hungry and Homeless Citizens” of Atlanta, especially on Christmas, New Year’s & Dr. King’s Holiday. In addition to the traditional holiday meals, they also provide career training, health awareness & other humanitarian services.
In addition to the monetary donation from the Alumni Association, the beautifully created specialty yard sign was donated by Alumna Bernese Meyer (DST Member) with our MBC Focus Group and Alumnus Todd Wilcher (Covenant House Dir. & Omega member) donated 4 boxes of bookbags filled with toiletries & school supplies for “Hosea Helps.” Alumna Teresa Jackson donated the keepsake check & provided the Bull-Horn. Rev. Williams daughter Barbara smiled when she saw the Bullhorn. This was her father’s favorite equipment during the Civil Rights marches! The Focus Group has also donated our festive 50 year yard sign to “Hosea Helps,” to be displayed on the Yard at their new distribution location. Alumnus Stan Coleman, Photographer.
We are proud “Brownites-4-Life” and will always lift up the Legacy & Name of our iconic civil rights activist Alumnus, Rev. Hosea Lorenzo Williams!
